Linux: Click Here for Free Power

"Free Power 2"

125x125 pixels

This is a followup to the original Free Power banner. So many features, so little time - so I reduced the frame delay to 10ms :) The result is of course that you can recognise the words as they whizz by, but the main effect is that you realise that there is so much software freely available for Linux.

This banner has been reworked by Brandt Kurowski, who writes:

Basically, I created a new version based on your original idea. The biggest difference is that I reduced the image size from 125150 bytes to 19174 bytes. I also cleaned up some of the dithering artifacts present in the original. And I added the "choice of a GNU generation" slogan, which is a favorite of mine.

If you'd like to look at it, the URL is

and it's in a page at

This newer version is now referred to as version 2.1, and is made available under the terms of the GNU Public License.

If you want to see all the (buzz)words used here, have a look at a screenshot (328k) of it (version 2.0) being made in the GIMP. (JPEGs were used to create the images as the GIMP release used couldn't convert to indexed colour - the resulting images were converted to gifs with djpeg and animated with gifmerge).

The "Internet's Operating System" frame is also available by itself as a static image here.
